Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling, higher education or related field; supplemented with two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Experience in career counseling and knowledge of student and human development throughout the life span
  • Knowledge of theoretical models for career development and associated counseling and information-delivery techniques and resources with experience interpreting career assessments
  • Counseling, interpersonal, and human relations skills
  • Experience in assisting with all aspects of the job search including resume/cover letter, interviewing, networking, and salary negotiation
  • Ability to market and advertise programs and services through social media
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
  • Experience in program and workshop development

Responsibilities

  • Delivers comprehensive career exploration and career planning services/programs to students and alumni; provides career counseling and career assessment administration and interpretation; coordinates the internship/cooperative education program; coordinates and presents specialized outreach programs designed to heighten students’ awareness of careers.
  • Provides presentations to student groups and classes on career development issues; teaches career courses; provides outreach to inform of industry, career trends, and relevant career and job search information; markets services to all stakeholders including students, alumni, and employers.
  • Assists in managing existing employers with questions and issues regarding recruiting students and alumni at Saint Louis University; coordinates specialized job/information networking events; assists with the coordination of on-campus recruiting activities; maintains contact and exchanges information with corporations and government organizations.
  • Monitors activity budget, runs reports and statistics on the job search database; critiques resumes and corresponds with students through career services management system.
  • Participates in University and division-wide committees and events; performs other duties as assigned.
