Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree; 3+ years of relevant experience with Masters degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent education)
  • At least 3 years of job-related experience or equivalent
  • Passed Fundament of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • Works independently and collaboratively with guidance and direction from others
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Position may require travel
  • In-depth knowledge using AutoCAD with Civil 3D
  • Working knowledge of regulatory codes and standards
  • Working knowledge with commercially available hydraulic and hydrology software
  • Working knowledge designing site drainage and storm water control systems
  • Working knowledge of the design of underground utilities
  • Working knowledge and expertise in Excel, and Word
  • Ability to prepare various civil engineering calculations and drawings

Responsibilities

  • Perform design, development or review tasks in specific areas under some supervision
  • Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review
  • Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects
  • Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in process design and review meetings
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status
  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Conduct site visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
  • Performs engineering modeling, analysis, and design assignments of moderate complexity
  • Prepares calculations, analyses, studies, specifications, reports, and other technical documents
  • Reviews other discipline drawings and vendor drawings
  • Performs discipline Material Take Off (MTO) activities using manual methods and computer applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering Registration
  • Master of Science degree in civil engineering
  • Government or nuclear experience, i.e., DOD, DOE, NR
