Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
- Minimum of six to eight (6-8) years of relevant experience in civil and geotechnical engineering.
- Strong understanding of nuclear engineering processes, rules, and regulations.
- Familiarity with flooding and seismic analysis as it pertains to NRC Requests for Additional Information (RAIs).
- Proven ability to adapt to a variety of engineering assignments and challenges.
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical investigations and analyses specific to nuclear facility requirements.
- Ensure compliance with NRC regulations and standards while delivering effective engineering solutions.
- Investigate alternative analysis methodologies to address complex geotechnical challenges.
- Perform civil-based design reviews, including but not limited to flooding analysis and seismic analysis.
- Support Nuclear Early Site Permits (ESP) and related nuclear development activities, including geotechnical reviews, civil cost estimating, and site optimization for boring locations.
- Provide early site development civil support as needed in the western service territory.
- Additional support for other New Generation projects (Gas and Renewables) as workload permits.
- Assess the impacts of engineering analyses on downstream events and conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address engineering challenges and regulatory inquiries.
- Maintain a questioning attitude to foster innovation and improvement in engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred geological experience of US east region, with a focus on Appalachia.
