Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Carrier experience managing primary casualty general liability claims nationwide including New York construction, hospitality, real estate, habitational, and products risks.
  • Experience handling New York Labor Law litigation is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, mentors and coaches a team to deliver excellent service and appropriate results with an emphasis team development, professional growth, performance management and technical guidance
  • Prepares timely, appropriate and concise large loss evaluations and reserve recommendations (assists team in same) suitable for distribution to senior management
  • Assists and guides team in coverage evaluation, drafting appropriate correspondence and communicates position in a timely and clear manner
  • Communicates regularly with Claim and Underwriting Managers on large losses, reserving, account trends, coverage matters and industry trends
  • Solid understanding of individual and group performance metrics and KPIs
  • Proficient in reviewing and evaluating coverage correspondence, experience writing/reviewing coverage letters and responding to/issuing tenders
  • Reviews team’s pending on regular diary, providing guidance and recommendations for further handling and reserving
  • Contributes to overall management and reduction of expense by offering considerable claim experience, development of the team’s skills and monitoring for appropriate use of outside counsel and vendors
  • Drafts and delivers performance feedback and reviews with assistance of Manager
  • Professionally represents AXIS as needed in the marketplace and assists underwriting as needed
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with internal stakeholders, and insureds, brokers and outside counsel; viewed as a reliable and technical expert
  • Responds to broker and insured inquiries with a high level of customer service and urgency
  • Other duties as assigned.
