Claims Specialist – Premises Liability

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
• The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of an associate’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
• Adjusters license applicable to jurisdiction and line of business
• Excellent organizational skills
• Time management skills
• Ability to think critically and utilize good judgment to resolve complex problems
• Internal and external communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
• High level of basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, advanced web browsing skills)

Responsibilities

• Routinely communicate claim activity and actively participate in regularly scheduled unit meetings and department meetings. Work toward and achieve team objectives. Develop and recommend solutions to claims above designated authority.
• Investigate potential claim exposure to include gathering relevant documents, obtaining statements as necessary and any other information deemed necessary to determine liability. Reviewing and analyzing medical records and medical bills to determine customer injuries and related treatment. Evaluating claims for third party involvement.
• Responsible for ~150 complex bodily injury, property damage, and auto claims based on assignment and jurisdiction. Represent the company when engaging with customers, counsel and third parties to process claims and negotiate settlements within designated authority.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Working knowledge of presentation software (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint)
• Bodily injury claims experience in multiple states
• Litigation experience
• Risk Management and Insurance degree preferred
• Property Causality license
