Responsibilities

  • Providing support to Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Comprehensive Cancer Center, Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology.
  • Performing data collection duties including performing electronic medical record chart review.
  • Tracking of patients longitudinally through therapy and identifying key clinical timepoints for biospecimen collection.
  • Identifying appropriate patients from clinical schedules and discussing research studies with patients to obtain consent.
  • Supporting participant recruitment and the implementation of strategies.
  • Assisting in collection of research data and specimens and coordinating with laboratory staff for time-sensitive collection of biospecimens.
  • Participating in qualitative research including administering questionnaires, conducting patient interviews, leading focus groups, tracking study mailing and communication with participants.
  • Performing data entry and preparing study reports; overseeing and maintaining accurate records of research activities.
  • Conducting library research on requested topics and providing support in planning and implementing programmatic activities.
  • Serving as a liaison with research team and other departments; assisting in promoting communications between research team, clinicians, and community organizations.
  • Working closely with and supporting project coordinator, data analyst, biostatistician, and principal investigators in their research efforts.
  • Attending research team meetings, assisting with analysis of research results, and participating in planning, designing, and execution of complex health services research studies.
  • Conducting critical analysis of research literature related to health services research.
  • Developing plans and resource tools to meet requirements of new protocols.
  • Summarizing data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by PIs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
