Requirements

  • Four-year college degree, with a concentration in Social Work, Pastoral Counseling, or Counseling degree
  • 1+ years in an office environment functioning
  • Strong experience in academic development with knowledge of a variety of sports teams functional requirements
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a goal-oriented strategic thinker
  • Well-developed communications skills both verbally and written

Responsibilities

  • Schedule sessions with student-athletes in groups or individually to meet with each week during the semester
  • Meet with student-athletes weekly during semester to discuss time management, study skills, and academic success
  • Enforce rules, embrace academic failure and success and assist in enabling them to fix issues
  • Use Tableau to pull information that is needed to assess individual student-athletes academic situation
  • Challenge student-athletes to achieve academic goals
  • Reserve and facilitate study rooms in library for mentoring sessions or conference rooms within Club Sports
  • Track mentoring attendance, report and analyze data regarding mentoring students’ performance
  • Perform office work pre and post semester and during summer months
  • Update files and documents, write manuals and paperwork for coach and student-athlete use
  • Assist in continually improving and developing the mentoring program to be more effective
  • Ensure documentation of mentoring sessions and attendance is done weekly during the semester
  • Report any red flags and additional information as needed for CARE reports
  • Send out chapters to departments for updates and edits to new policies for the upcoming year
  • Coordinate the return and organization of each chapter into the manual
  • Ensure manual is properly formatted and presented neatly
  • Print copies for needed coaches and staff prior to the Coaches Meetings each August
  • Post an online copy to the website by July 1 for training purposes of new coaches
  • Work to enhance the Club Sports programs and uphold the mission and values of Club Sports
  • Work in office setting and in study hall setting
  • Have a flexible attitude and work ethic in order to work as a team and individual
  • Willing and able to work with the Club Sports departments when needed
  • Participate in events throughout the year with teams
  • Assist with concessions twice a year (during breaks) and during graduation
