Requirements
- M.S. degree in Civil, Structural, Coastal, or Ocean Engineering required.
- 4+ years of experience in waterfront/marine/port/ocean engineering; Experience with ASCE MOP 130, ASCE 61, PIANC Guidelines is a plus.
- Registered professional engineer in the United States, or ability to obtain within 12 months of joining SGH
- Excellent written, oral and verbal communication skills; Ability to convey information to internal and external clients clearly.
- Capability to solve minor or complex problems using data, logic, and judgment. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to travel for client meetings and business development, including some overnight travel.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, evaluate, analyze, and design a variety of marine, waterfront, port, and harbor structures, facilities, and infrastructure.
- Support waterfront stabilization and resiliency projects that involve wind, wave, current, tide, flood, sea level rise, mooring, berthing, and seismic loads.
- Prepare calculations for project components that may include concrete, steel, aluminum, composite, and timber elements.
- Prepare technical reports.
- Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Provide construction administration and field observation.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and managing junior staff and interns.
- Assist in proposal development and business development efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ASCE MOP 130, ASCE 61, PIANC Guidelines is a plus.
