Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • 1-2 years of experience as an engineer in fulfillment center, manufacturing, or logistics setting (internship experience considered).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions and recommendations with clear and achievable ROIs.
  • Proficiency in process mapping and workflow analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to present project kickoffs and recaps to Directors and above.
  • Experience with project management tools and techniques, project management certification preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Experience leading Lean Six Sigma projects or kaizen events across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects aimed at improving productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Support project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure initiatives stay on track and meet established goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to monitor progress, address challenges, and implement solutions.
  • Analyze existing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve throughput.
  • Implement process changes and monitor results to ensure sustainable improvements.
  • Draft and update comprehensive SOPs for new and existing operational processes.
  • Ensure that all SOPs are accurate, user-friendly, and align with company standards.
  • Work with the operations team to roll out and communicate SOP changes effectively.
  • Design and optimize facility layouts to improve space utilization, workflow, and safety.
  • Lead and participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement projects aimed at streamlining processes and reducing waste.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing warehouse technology solutions to enhance operational capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite and data visualization tools, such as Domo or Tableau.
  • Intermediate SQL proficiency.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) tools for designing layouts or modifications to fulfillment workflows.
  • Experience with automated systems such as PLCs, robotics, or warehouse control systems (WCS).
  • Experience with warehouse management systems or manufacturing execution systems implementations, such as Oracle, Manhattan, or Red Prairie.
  • Knowledge of training content development tools and platforms.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, including blueprints, and maintenance guides.
  • Practical exposure to using tools and equipment in an engineering or operational setting, such as power tools, diagnostic equipment, and measuring tools.
  • Proficiency with troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical, electrical, or automation systems commonly used in fulfillment centers. Conveyors, sortation, robotics, and material handling equipment.
