Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a similar discipline. In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of hands-on experience in a relevant role will be considered.
- Solid understanding of control systems architecture and industrial automation components (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, motion control, robotics, and vision systems).
- Strong familiarity with PC-based systems and mainstream software tools.
- Working knowledge of industrial networks and database integration.
- Understanding of applicable electrical and safety codes and standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to interpret, modify, and generate technical drawings related to building systems and production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and adjust software and hardware systems for PLCs, CNCs, HMIs, and robotic equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot device-level control networks.
- Support and optimize servo and variable frequency drive (VFD) systems, both hardware and software.
- Integrate and maintain machining data acquisition systems, ensuring connectivity with higher-level control platforms.
- Apply advanced control technologies to enhance machining processes and improve system efficiency.
- Define specifications and contribute to the design and commissioning of new machining equipment.
- Provide hands-on technical assistance to machining operations, addressing issues as they arise.
- Partner with Skilled Trades teams, Process Engineers, and Supervisors to support diagnostic and repair activities in CNC and assembly machining areas.
- Aid maintenance teams in interpreting technical schematics and OEM manuals for effective troubleshooting and fault resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, Siemens 840D controls, and Siemens VFDs and servo systems.
- Familiarity with Fanuc robots, Cognex vision systems, and Trumpf laser equipment.
- Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley automation systems.
- Understanding of fluid-based systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and cooling/lubrication.
- Knowledge of machining-related processes such as metal cutting, press monitoring, part identification, fastening, and part washing.
- Experience using maintenance and enterprise systems such as Maximo, SAP, and Microsoft Outlook.
