Requirements

  • 5+ years of communications experience.
  • Demonstrated focus on corporate communications at large companies.
  • Ability to fluidly navigate between strategy and execution (can develop high-level strategic plans and also ensure high-quality execution).
  • Proven success building strategic communications plans across external channels including owned, earned, social, and emerging media.
  • Unusually strong writing and business communication skills.
  • A track record of building strong relationships across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience working directly with national and local media to shape stories proactively and reactively.

Responsibilities

  • Drive proactive corporate announcements from strategy to execution, working cross-functionally to ensure compelling framing and secure media coverage of company news.
  • Own and maintain our corporate messaging library, incorporating latest data, framing, and product updates.
  • Organize and maintain a list of regular beat reporters, taking ownership of relationships with local media contacts.
  • Work closely with peers on the external (and internal) communications team to ensure integrated planning and execution.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson on high stakes and high profile issues.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Communications Manager to support media relations on reactive issues across the United States and Canada, including drafting statements / responses and providing background information to help reporters understand Lyft’s policies, features, and positions on safety.
  • Partner with the corporate, product and consumer communications teams to create pitches relating to advance Lyft’s overall narrative.
  • Provide strategic communication support to senior executives, including preparing talking points and other key communications to effectively represent the company in public forums.
  • Work in partnership with functions across the company – including operations, legal/compliance, insurance, product, and customer experience – to ensure stories are reported accurately.
