Requirements

  • Seasoned Industry professional with extensive experience and deep market expertise across Tax in the post-trade space – payments, custody or in a Tax consulting function covering Transaction Banking.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with stakeholders in the business.
  • Excellent communicator, written and oral, with the gravitas to manage regulators clients, boards as well as senior Citi management.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, coming to terms with and bringing order to an at times fragmented technological, organisational and operational landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Own and define the go-forward vision and strategy for Custody Tax – across Product and Operations.
  • Establish an optimised Global Tax Operating Model, to manage tax reclaim volumes, to mitigate our Tax risk and improve the client experience.
  • Accountable for the Risk management and Control agenda, in partnership with Geographic business heads, Ops and Tech partners, and In-business risk team.
  • Manage down the Operational Risk and improve efficiency of the Tax function – implement appropriate strategies to remove legacy/bespoke processes, streamline functions globally, drive standardisation, best practice and efficiency across all our markets.
  • Work with Corporate tax teams and local tax experts in assessing and interpreting evolution of local technical tax law across our 104 markets, and implementing changes in our product and service offering to ensure ongoing tax compliance.
  • Own the Custody Tax commercial proposition – cost to serve, pricing, thresholds and partner with the broader pricing and commercial teams to implement standards across our rate cards.
  • Develop a comprehensive approach to our Tax Market Advocacy.
  • Support Client/Sales process with Tax service expertise as needed.
  • Manage the technology budget, prioritisation and Product Development for Tax – ensuring rigour on capital expenditure and resource allocation. Synthesize demands from clients and other key stakeholder into a coherent roadmap of delivery to deliver critical product features and functionality.
  • Improve scale and efficiency of the service delivery through optimal use and development of ‘tech-first’ solutions, FinTEch, AI, process automation, streamlining and global standardisation of service delivery.
  • Responsible for the core Tax Operational Service delivery.
  • Oversight of local branch performance in delivery of the Tax service.
  • Evolve both ‘day-to-day’ capacity data and ‘throughput’ processing executive metrics as well as client insights into processing status.
  • Advocate for building a next generation ‘tax service’ that will scale in close partnership with market, client and digitization opportunities.
  • Provide a front to back leadership from product to operations and the associated governance and control forums to provide clear insights into the operate model.
