Cytologist

Requirements

• Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 12 months of start date
• Must meet CLIA education and experience standards for Cytotechnologist
• Ability to sit, stand, and handle materials continuously as outlined in physical demands

Responsibilities

• Perform microscopic examination on gynecological and non-gynecological specimens
• Detect, select, and clearly mark cells representative of pathological processes
• Prepare provisional diagnosis for cases referred to the cytology supervisor or pathologist
• Interpret acceptability of specimens and communicate issues to caregivers
• Assist in the collection of Fine Needle Aspirates
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve QC failures
• Prepare final diagnosis using established cytologic terminology
• Perform accessioning, routine staining, and coverslipping of cytologic slides
• Maintain clear and concise specimen identification
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year related experience preferred
