Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a healthcare cash-posting environment
- Proficiency with computers and related software
- Efficiency with 10 key calculator
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Perform insurance predeterminations of benefits
- Validate insurance coverage and preauthorizations (medical and dental)
- Discuss treatment plans and payment arrangements with patients
- Enter dental and medical coding
- Bill medical/dental carriers, appeal claims, and handle collection functions
- Serve as liaison between doctors, patients, and payers
- Manage accounts receivable for a group of providers, including timely filing and appealing accounts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial and government insurance
- Knowledge of dental billing practices and procedures
- Skill in operating personal computer and related medical billing software
- Ability to deal with problems involving insurance
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Cooperate with co-workers
- Knowledge of customer service skills and the ability to apply in various situations
- Ability to answer routine inquiries and resolve complaints from patients, third party payers and doctors
- 4 to 6 years’ experience in a dental billing environment
