Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10-15 years of research administration experience strongly emphasizing post-award compliance, financial oversight, and training development in higher education, government, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in managing audits, implementing internal controls, improving compliance outcomes, and leading professional development initiatives.
  • Experience communicating effectively with senior leadership and adapting to evolving research administration requirements.
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar enterprise financial systems.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for professional development, training sessions, and sponsor engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and reinforce internal controls related to post-award activities, ensuring proper stewardship of sponsored funds.
  • Serve as the single audit lead for the Office of Research, coordinating audit readiness and addressing findings or recommendations.
  • Oversee desk audits, manage routine internal and external audit inquiries, and implement random sample testing to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with sponsored award terms and conditions, including monitoring expenditures, burn rates, and deliverables, and provide clear guidance to address potential issues.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and sponsors to address post-award management challenges, offering consultative solutions to maintain financial integrity and regulatory adherence.
  • Design, implement, and lead institution-wide training programs on post-award policies, Uniform Guidance, federal regulations, and best practices, ensuring that research administrators and Principal Investigators have the knowledge and skills necessary for compliance and operational excellence.
  • Develop and present performance metrics, internal control assessments, compliance testing results, and training outcomes to senior leadership, informing strategic decision-making.
  • Support the AVP for Post Award in strategic initiatives, serving as a backup and contributing to continuous improvements in research administration processes and training offerings.
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned.
