Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in payroll oversight for large and/or public company with greater than 500 employees. CPG experience preferred. Global management experience preferred.
- Experience with exempt and non-exempt employees
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start up like environment
- Strong working knowledge of US and multi-state payroll reporting requirements
- Payroll implementation experience preferred
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and PowerPoint) and virtual meeting tools for training delivery (i.e. Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Thrives in working independently, while partnering and collaborating across teams in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; comfortable handling the unexpected and balancing multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts, make presentations and present complex written information and findings in a highly professional manner
- Strong sense of business ethics, integrity, confidentiality and accountability
- Intermediate experience with Excel functions (vlookup, pivots, sum functions, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Directly oversee the timely and accurate processing of payroll in the US and Canada
- Establish and execute organizational strategy and vision, including team structure, roles and responsibilities and building processes that drive accuracy, efficiency and regulatory compliance
- Liaise with global teams to advise on payroll business practices in the UK, China, India, and Europe
- Oversee all payroll-related accounting transactions, including account reconciliations
- Liaise with Accounting and Finance around month-end close procedures including post-close analysis of accounts and financial statement line items
- Responsible for all payroll tax activities, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and ensure timely filings of each jurisdiction’s periodic returns
- Remain current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll and implement changes if/as needed
- Ensures all processes performed by the Payroll team are properly documented and controls are effective
- Oversee and responds to requirements and findings from internal and external auditors
- Ensure management is fully informed of risks, issues, challenges and provide timely solutions
- Lead the effort to implement new ERP system as it relates to payroll and payroll-related processes
- Manage relationships and budgets for third party vendors
- Help lead the global effort to replace ADP WFN, for global locations
- Maintain excellent working relationships with business partners People, Total Rewards, IT, Legal, Accounting and Finance that inspire confidence and cooperation
- Support the People and Total Rewards teams, as needed, as it relates to benefits and equity plan administration
- Collaborate with the People, Total Rewards, and Accounting teams to identify areas for process improvement
- Maintain a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and modeling high performance teamwork and open communication
