Requirements

  • Minimum of 12+ years of progressive related experience.
  • Experience with corporate income tax compliance, as well as provision and reporting processes for SEC registered companies in tax function of a public company or Big 4.
  • Extensive working knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles ASC 740.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Experience in fast-paced environment, highly driven with the ability to work independently, conduct multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Effectively communicates and presents information (written, orally and via presentation materials), possesses an inquisitive mind, and works effectively with multiple functions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the first commercial launch by leading and developing tax plans and strategies.
  • Oversee certain elements of the U.S. federal and state tax compliance process, including R&D and foreign tax credits. Review tax returns and related documents to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. Authorize the payment of taxes due. Manage audits when applicable.
  • Pursue refunds, credits and incentives as the company moves into new markets or new locations to maximize tax benefits to the company.
  • Collaborate with other functions to achieve process improvement and realize cost savings in indirect taxes and VAT matters.
  • Work closely with Accounting to provide inputs for policy setting, review of business results in monthly/quarterly reporting cycles and forecasts.
  • Review annual and quarterly tax provisions and related disclosures in our SEC filings. Maintain appropriate documentation to meet SOX requirements.
  • Monitor emerging issues in U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC reporting, as well as proposed changes in tax laws, and assess the financial statement impact.
  • Prepare income tax accounting memoranda to document analysis and conclusions for transactions and other non-routine matters, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Manage tax calendar to ensure timely filings, payments and SOX compliance.
  • Recognize complex technical tax issues, perform research and analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Other special projects and assignments as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • Pharma/Biotech industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Supporting a first product launch preferred.
  • Previous experience across a variety of tax matters, including indirect tax, VAT and sales tax matters and have the capability to dissect specialized matters and inform decision making.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls/SOX in a public company setting or BIG 4.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative with cross-functional partners, and a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
