Requirements
- 10+ years of experience running coverage and helping to produce ambitious enterprise and analytical pieces.
- 5+ years of experience guiding reporters in breaking news on competitive beats.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and manage lines of coverage across a variety of issues.
- Edit copy to a high standard, including breaking news and enterprise stories.
- Coordinate and communicate intensively with other editors across the newsroom with overlapping responsibilities.
- Work closely with the Live team on breaking news.
- Collaborate with visual, photo and graphics editors to assure rich presentation of stories.
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
- You will report to the Washington DC bureau chief.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience collaborating and partnering with colleagues across The New York Times newsroom.
