Requirements

  • 3 + years of Controls Electrical Experience
  • Analog Signal Handling experience required.
  • Strong experience as an industrial control technician and electrical draftsperson in a public utility, manufacturing or other industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, BricsCAD) for creating electrical drawings and ladder-style schematics.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and components commonly used in industrial control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA) pertaining to electrical design and installation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing technical drawings and documentation.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot electrical issues and discrepancies in drawings.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime as needed and travel to various job sites as needed to meet project requirements and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams of industrial control systems for project submittals based on the project’s quoted materials and labor.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and requirements.
  • Review technical documents, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials when integration with control systems deviates from initial design.
  • Execute Product Acceptance Tests (PATs) on panels as they are produced, and work with SCADA Controls Technicians (SCTs – PLC programmers) to resolve any issues discovered.
  • Assist installation crews as needed, with installation of panels and their enclosures.
  • Terminate wiring from field devices to control panels, and test operation. In some instances termination or modification may need to be performed on the field equipment as well.
  • Fully document the completion and startup of the panel at the customer’s location and update project drawings and documentation to an as-built status.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of network, digital and 4-20mA analog control and monitoring circuits, PLC automation and SCADA interfaces.
  • Serving as a team-leader and on-the-job trainer when paired with entry level Electrical Controls Technicians.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical training or certification in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field is preferred.
