Requirements
- Proficient with computer system interface design or embedded micro-controller system design which provides the interface to ROM, RAM, keyboard, display, D/A, etc.
- Familiar with schematics capture from library creation to PCB layout info release and supervises the PCB layout details.
- Familiar with CAD layout tools.
- Proficient in circuit design and simulation, DAQ, PCB design and layout, circuit analysis, engineering calculation, control and power systems design.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work with peers to finish assignments in a fast-paced and demanding working environment.
- Knowledge of NEC Code, electrical safety codes, compliance/integrity test, and other electrical safety related standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- System bring-up and debugging skills for instruments including oscilloscope and logic analyzer.
- Strong sense of safety with professional judgment and responsible manner.
Responsibilities
- Participates as a member of equipment R&D division which develops advanced analytical instruments, participates in short-term and long-term projects.
- Assists product design by defining the platform’s requirements, providing electrical design, circuit simulation, engineering calculations, and analytical results.
- Interprets schematics and process control diagrams.
- Develops electrical block diagram, circuit layout and Gerber file and design PCB/PWB by applying industry and government standards for multiple products.
- Conducts full product design cycle and helps transition the design to small volume manufacturing, provides suggestions to improve instrument performance.
- Designs, tests, installs, troubleshoots and monitors power systems and electronic components of instrument and prototype.
- Identifies malfunctioning components/units and the need for repair of electrical systems and components and troubleshoots the problems.
- Maintains a safe electrical environment in R&D laboratory, guides electrical safety related issues.
- Writes and maintains equipment documentation and training materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Communicates effectively, gets along with coworkers and management, and works with others effectively and professionally under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree with minimum five years industry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
