Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing laser and optical weapon systems, including laser design, optical design, hardware stability control, software control and monitoring, and failure isolation in a professional environment
- Experience designing custom power supplies to 6kW, including Schematic and PCB layout, manufacture liaison duties, functional and performance testing, power analysis with design margins, developing test procedures, and results documentation
- Experience in multi-COTS interface and logic designs
- Experience in troubleshooting, fault isolation, and solving technical problems in system design and hardware
- Knowledge of laser safety and Mil-STD requirements
- Ability to interface with the Senior Electrical Engineer for Gimbal Design and Control
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Science field
Responsibilities
- Guide electronics project design through multi-COTS interfaces tying together multiple design disciplines
- Support laser weapon system research
- Solve challenging problems and support a wide variety of roles, including chief engineer, systems engineer, and chief fire control architect
- Understand and contribute to a wide range of technical issues and work with a variety of people to help existing laser weapon programs achieve their goals and to help win new programs
- Support Government Project Leads that include hands-on roles
- Perform system design, assisting with detailed design, troubleshooting, and technical and program planning, to include key inputs for cost estimates, schedules, and technical goals
- Understand both system and detailed technical aspects of a program, hardware and software aspects, laser weapon systems, and fire control architectures
- Apply advanced technical expertise with knowledge of the state-of-the-art and what is available from industry
- Develop innovative solutions to complex problems
- Work without direction, and mentor and supervise team members
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience working with U.S. Navy weapon systems or laser and EO systems
- 5+ years of experience with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) electro-optical systems development, analysis, installation, and test and evaluation (T&E)
- Experience with the integration of laser systems and major components of a laser system, including the optical train
- Knowledge of practical problems associated with the design, building, integration, and testing of laser weapon systems
- Master’s degree in an Engineering or Science field
