Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 4+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex system designs
  • General understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance such as grounding and fault protection
  • Hands-on technical experience with integrating and debugging complex power and communications systems as well as firmware-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices
  • Experience designing mixed-signal PCBs with multiple layer counts, layer stackup and impedance matching for power and sensor applications, understanding correct grounding approaches and employing appropriate board protections and filtering
  • Understanding of low voltage and high voltage power electronics and control systems in order to capture system interconnect diagrams and drive cable harnessing designs with proper wire and connector selection
  • Ability to perform power system and electrical loading analysis, simulation, and testing to determine optimal solutions
  • High competence using lab test equipment (benchtop power supplies, electronics loads, oscilloscopes, DMM, logic/spectrum analyzers, etc.) with familiarity of thermal and EMI test chambers and using basic software debugging tools
  • Familiarity with battery and UPS systems of various chemistries along with high voltage and low voltage safety and design considerations
  • Familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB)
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art power systems tailored for extreme performance and reliability in demanding environments
  • Engineer the interface between high-capacity battery systems and sophisticated edge computing platforms, ensuring seamless operation and mission success
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to push the boundaries of what’s possible in power efficiency, contributing to strategic advances in military communications and vehicular technology
  • Troubleshoot complex challenges, applying your expert knowledge to maintain the strategic advantage on land, air, and sea
  • Work on building the future of military vehicles including smart power systems, edge compute, combat, network and RF communications
  • Lead or support full cycle PCB design including defining requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and integration with the system
  • Define, architect, test and integrate modules and subsystems into full vehicle system including hardware selection
  • Develop communication architectures for CAN, ethernet, and serial based electrical devices
  • Plan and document power and signal interconnections between system components through definition of block diagrams and harness schematic drawings that connect electrical equipment within the vehicle
  • Build vehicle electrical bench setups and HIL systems to facilitate bring-up, development, testing and validation
  • Troubleshoot issues that span the electrical and firmware/software boundaries using lab test equipment
  • Work closely with other electrical, mechanical, harness, firmware, software, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products
  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews
  • Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, deployments, and customer operated hardware

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of MIL-STD requirements such as MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-DTL-38999
  • Familiarity with military ground equipment vendors and rugged system component suppliers from past experience in DoD programs
