Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, robotics, or computer science, or equivalent bachelor’s degree.
  • C and C++ Programming experience in industry
  • Experience with sensors, ECU’s, developing application software to facilitate testing in a vehicle or simulated environment (such as HILS, SILS).
  • Experience in unit/system testing, validating, and/or verifying embedded software.
  • Experience with CAN (Controller Area Network) tools and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in requirement/specification creation following agile or waterfall software development process.
  • Experience in leading or collaborating on development of small/mid-scale software, electronic or mechanical control systems, from concept to actualization/production.
  • Experience in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence implementation
  • Exposure to IS026262 Functional Safety concepts and application to develop new systems.
  • Familiarity with system development quality tools.
  • Strong visual presentation skills with consideration of international audiences.
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
  • This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
  • Willingness to work overtime, when necessary, up to 20% of the time.
  • Willingness to work a hybrid work style. Attend in person meetings 3-4 days per week.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Developing System and Software Architecture for new ADAS features
  • Develop Software: Use iterative processes to design algorithms and software using Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Provide data-driven proposals for new ADS and ADAS features, subsequently supported by software implementations of the proposed algorithms.
  • Develop simulation environment (Hardware in the loop and/or Software in the loop) and integrate software testing processes and tools to facilitate automated testing. Analyze data with automated quantitative methods to enable visualized tracking of performance indicators for decision making.
  • Identify customer needs for ADAS through data driven assessment of technology, market, and social trends. Propose and develop innovative ADAS to commercialize high value customer needs.
  • Facilitate daily communication with Japanese counterparts to align global activities and drive consensus building.
  • Summarize data logically to create easy-to-understand visualized reports for technical storytelling. Communicate proactively with stakeholders and Management toward building consensus.
  • Collaborate with different IVS groups to gather key information or tasks to support production design and evaluation groups of future ADS features.
  • Form partnerships with stakeholders across the division to realize efficiencies through best practices in software engineering.
  • Drive prototype vehicles in simulated, closed track, and public road environments including the ability to gain necessary driver certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical area.
  • Experience designing products in areas of automotive engineering or robotics.
  • General knowledge of vehicle control; propulsion, braking, steering, etc.
  • Experience with Python programming.
  • Experience in realizing real time control solutions for robotics or other automated mobile systems.
  • Experience in developing or evaluating ADAS/ADS technologies such as mapping, localization, path planning, and/or control, including quantitative performance comparisons against benchmark competitors.
  • Experience with camera, radar, lidar, or sonar technologies.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data from simulations or test vehicles.
