Engineering Internship

3 Years of College courses minimum
Working level understanding of SolidWorks, CAD, LabView, MATLAB, and Office 365
Interest in mechanical engineering
Basic understanding of optical systems
Desire to work in a lab environment
Aptitude for hands-on mechanical projects
Ability to take direction and execute without constant supervision
Desire to work in a dynamic environment
Self-motivated work ethic
Good oral and written communication skills
Good problem-solving skills
Applicable grasp of analytical principles
Readiness to explore new experiences and responsibilities
Organization and time management
Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Assist highly skilled engineers in creating and assembling prototypes
Develop test metrics and methods
Utilize SolidWorks to create, edit, and improve prototype components
Utilize CAD to depict subsystem and system drawings
Work with a cross-functional team to ensure the product functions throughout challenging Design Validation Testing (DVT)
Support data collection events (indoors/outdoors)
Present test findings to engineers and senior leadership
Work with team members to order material and qualify incoming product
Work on systems in all stages of development: from prototyping to root cause analysis
Assist in problem solving exercises such as thermal optimization
Lab equipment & experiment set-up (general or specific tasks)
Calibration cycle assistance including equipment maintenance support
New equipment research, ordering, and setup (i.e., bearings)
Conduct web searches and technical surveys
Support engineering documentation efforts (data files, reports, drawings)
Other related tasks (i.e., analysis, report writing, presentations), as necessary
Perform maintenance of lab (Clean-up, reorganization, labeling, and disposal)
