Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of design experience
  • Experience in managing and leading design and test engineers by example for 4+ years
  • Skills required for collaborating and working cross functionally by influencing the product designs
  • Experience in successfully delivering mechanical designs and products from concept to production
  • Excelled in delivering the product per project time line and deliverables within the budget
  • Contributed to defining the product requirements, project time line and product costs
  • Very good understanding of automotive product development and related test specifications
  • Hands on experience with functional validation testing and related specifications covering thermal, environmental, shock and vibration test standards for automotive products
  • Strong knowledge on CAD, design process and hands on with CAD tools like SolidWorks
  • Working knowledge of thermal design and simulation
  • Hands on with parts fabrication and product proto typing
  • Proficiency across diverse manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, die-casting, injection molding and 3D printing
  • Keen interest towards improving development processes, design documentation and team collaboration
  • Required 3-5 days a week in the SF office

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design of new products, driving innovation and excellence
  • Champion collaboration cross functionally with electrical, test, manufacturing and installation teams by navigating the design from concept to production and launch
  • Develop product specifications, create design, perform design reviews and improve
  • Generate working prototypes for proof of concept and customer demonstrations
  • Lead hands on involvement with building, debugging, and maintaining product builds
  • Develop test plans and processes, execute testing and guide validation of new designs
  • Partner with vendors and contract manufacturers to fabricate mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Seek out opportunities to make things work better – it’s about continuous improvement
  • Ensure deliverables for the project are on track and stays within project budget
  • Take ownership of your part of the mechanical system, strive for performance and cost improvements, track and drive mechanical design process and compliance
