Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, chemistry, biology, or related scientific field.
  • 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Strong technical writing ability to clearly communicate findings and conclusions.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations, contamination types, and the potential impacts on human health and the environment.
  • Ability to develop solutions that require collaboration with internal experts and influence team members regarding solution approaches.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Work independently authoring project reports based on project needs, such as summary reports and work plans.
  • Coordinate with Task Manager on document assignments, work prioritization, deadline expectations, and progress of work.
  • Independently gather information from both internal and external data sources including but not limited to basic property identification information, access agreements, land usage (historic and current), property descriptions, satellite photos, structure and land survey data, and applicable analytical data for various media collected at the site.
  • Coordinate with various team members to assemble datasets, report figures, risk assessments, and data quality control analyses.
  • Determine data needs or gaps based on property features and Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM) guidance. Perform evaluations and statistical analyses and tests of the data and compare to applicable established criteria.
  • Compile findings into tables and reports which are comprehensive and consistent with current standards. Maintain familiarity and compare with client and regulator comments to ensure consistency in reports.
  • Assemble report specific records such as survey and instrumentation records for documentation purposes.
  • Participate in client meetings/communication as needed.
  • Coach and review work of peers and lower-level staff as needed.
  • Complete all training assignments and review of training assignments as required.
  • Participate in environmental field work as necessary, including environmental investigation sampling/surveying and environmental monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on radiological remediation projects and applying MARSSIM guidance.
  • Experience using Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) designed ProUCL software, and the RESidual RADiation (RESRAD) Family of Codes for use in radiological risk and dose assessments.
  • Experience using environmental databases for data entry and/or retrieval.
  • Experience/familiarity with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) process.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
