Requirements

  • BS or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of industry experience
  • Management/leadership experience in a matrix environment
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary global program teams
  • In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including clinical research, regulatory, pharmaceutical sciences, marketing, or other drug development areas
  • Extensive drug development and pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience to drive program strategy and resolve critical issues.
  • Significant experience leading cross-functional teams through various stages of drug development, from early research to post-marketing activities
  • Expert strategic problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills for managing, motivating, and decision-making.
  • Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to foster a culture of collegiality and respect for diverse contributions.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend process improvements and implement best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure team accountability for functional deliverables, challenging assumptions, and plans.
  • Collaborate with GPT members, cross-functional leaders, and stakeholders to drive alignment, risk management, and decision making.
  • Develop program strategy with GPT and senior leaders.
  • Create and execute an integrated development plan (IDP) supporting submissions, approvals, launch, and life cycle activities.
  • Proactively identify issues and develop contingency plans.
  • Communicate project-related issues to senior leaders and manage resolutions.
  • Chair GPT meetings, set agendas, allocate time, raise concerns, and drive action plans.
  • Interact with leaders and governance bodies to maintain alignment on strategy, decisions, risks, and resources.
  • Provide input on long-range and annual investment planning.
  • Implement best practices for team effectiveness.
  • Drive risk-based decision making.
  • Present at governance committees and business forums.
  • Work on complex issues requiring in-depth program, R&D strategy, and business knowledge.
  • Make critical decisions impacting program schedules and business priorities.
