Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry/Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
- 15+ years of industry experience (biotech/pharma) with a focus on assay development and 10+ years of leadership experience managing scientific teams and projects.
- Proven expertise in developing, optimizing, automating, and validating medium to high-throughput assays (including biochemical/biophysical, cell-based, immunoassays, and molecular assays).
- Expertise in data analysis and interpretation, including high-throughput data. Computational biology experience is an asset.
- Strong digital/computational acumen, including familiarity with LIMS, SDMS, ELN and other state-of-the-art digital tools and platforms, cloud computing, data security, and digital infrastructure, and automation technologies to enhance efficiency and throughput.
- Exceptional leadership and mentorship skills, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- A demonstrated ability to work in a complex matrixed environment and to lead by influence.
- Strong scientific communication skills and experience collaborating with external partners and CROs.
- Experience drafting and reviewing regulatory filings.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Therapeutic Assay Sciences group, defining its vision and strategy within Drug Design & Preclinical Development.
- Oversee the development, optimization, automation, and qualification of assays, ensuring high-quality data generation, analysis, and database integration for optimal alignment with our drug development programs and AI/ML platform.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with teams in Technology (Prototyping, Data Science, Informatics, Automation groups), Therapeutic Biology, and Protein Sciences.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging assay technologies to maintain innovation and a competitive edge.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and innovation-driven culture.
- Present findings and strategy updates to executive leadership and represent the company at scientific conferences and external collaborations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in discovery and development of biologics is strongly preferred.
