Requirements

  • Degree in the physical sciences, electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience designing/developing or testing coherent optical modules and components, preferably active products, and specifically DSPs, receivers, modulators and lasers
  • Direct experience in product development and NPI processes with either an optical components/modules company or a system OEM
  • Practical working knowledge of transceiver hardware including both specification and test of firmware/hardware interfaces
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Familiarity with device firmware structure & functionality is a strong positive
  • Familiar with standards documents like CMIS, C-CMIS, Ethernet, Infiniband
  • Familiar with popular switch/router platforms and ONTs including Arista, Cisco, Juniper and Nvidia
  • Familiar with Python
  • Ability to speak/understand English is required; written skills emphasized

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate technical specifications and performance trade-offs with customers that will satisfy their system and module needs; promoting Lumentum product preferences at targeted customers.
  • Participate in customer design reviews and contribute to the technical response to RFI/RFQs.
  • Work closely with sales and directly with customers to collect customer’s requirement and application use cases.
  • Work directly with targeted customers to bring up transceiver modules at customer sites, troubleshoot customer prototypes, and develop solutions that support end-user applications, resulting in successful design-in of our products.
  • Develop and manage primary customer product documentation which can include corrective actions, analysis reports, manufacturing test plans, performance improvement plans, reliability qualification plans and reports.
  • Manage Product Change Notification process (PCN) with customers and engineering.
  • Participation in critical Failure Analysis, Corrective Action & Lessons Learned activities.
