Requirements
- Minimum High School degree or GED
- Cardiac Operating Theatre and/or Cath Lab experience
- Previous experience training medical staff and physicians on complex procedures
- Experience supporting implants/procedures of complex medical devices
- Experience with Echo or CT Imaging
- 11 years’ experience in a clinical setting with a High School degree OR 10 years’ experience in a clinical setting with an Associate’s degree OR 8 years’ experience in a clinical setting with a Bachelor’s degree
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and Assist the Medical Education team with Physician Training occurring in their District
- Facilitate and conduct entire local physician training within the District when a proctor is not available
- Formally present product and implant best practices to the physicians during local training
- Serve as a proctor, particularly when a physician proctor is not available
- Develops therapy and device operational knowledge and applies this knowledge to processes and initiatives in support of procedural excellence
- Serve as the District Expert and function as the District Lead for simulation
- Collaborates with the Global Field Education to roll out new product training initiatives; new products’ indications, troubleshooting/tips and tricks, safety updates – ‘Train the Trainer’
- Point person responsible for the depth and consistency of all new field employees within the district
- On-boarding of new field based employees
- Arrange and lead group case observations
- Conduct case reviews, mock exams
- Imaging and executive summary training
- Take a leadership role in ensuring that outgoing fellows are familiar, facile, and comfortable in using Medtronic’s TAVR technology
- Identify and target each Structural Heart teaching institution
- Work with local TC and TDS to set up various fellows training opportunities
- Interact with the Program Directors and Chief Resident to create a customized training program
- Secure outside faculty and simulators for the training, as needed
- Share best practices and experiences with the FCL team
- Work with other MDT divisions to help tie in relative technology
- Identify and transition final year fellows to the new local Medtronic team
- Support local sales management in presenting the technology to potential new to TAVR sites
- Conduct case support for difficult or unusual cases
- Overread, size, interpret and advise on difficult imagining studies
- Primary point of contact for in-house clinical team as it relates to clinical trial activities within region
- Track and provide data collecting support for ongoing clinical studies as requested by Clinical Research
- Develops and maintains clinical acumen to understand and translate procedure requirements in compliance with clinical protocols
- Provides guidance to regional field team regarding device ordering, storage and accountability for clinical trial sites within region
- Acts as a liaison with in-house clinical team when resolving procedure/device-related PXM events and/or device management questions
- Facilitates and/or redirects clinical trial questions to in-house team
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- TAVR experience
- Current CoreValve Sr TDS or higher in good standing
- Primary Case Support for 400 cases
- Experience with Alternative Access Implants
- History of Volunteering to help with case coverage outside of normal territory
- Experience leading education and training activities
- The successful candidate will preferably have experience in marketing new technologies and therapies
- Strong knowledge of congenital heart disease management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of medical device sales process
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision; whilst at the same time playing an active team role when appropriate
