Requirements
- Graduate students (with good academic standing for graduation)
- Experience with flood model development and evaluation
- Strong GIS (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL) and analytical skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, R, and Python
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Work alongside a unique group of scientists to protect the value of FM clients’ businesses by developing methods to identify hazards, assess risk, and produce loss prevention solutions
- Build hydraulic models to simulate how flooding spreads across the landscape during past storm events and extreme scenarios defined by flood frequency analysis
- Apply methods to estimate the geometry of open channels and stormwater systems to allow more scalable and reliable production urban flood hydraulic models
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfortable writing shell scripts and using APIs to automate workflows
- Comfortable in Microsoft Windows and Linux environments
- Experience in machine learning (would be a plus)
