Requirements
- Master’s degree required
- Doctorate preferred
- Experience as a collegiate ensemble leader
- Experienced music educator who maintains an active creative, research, and service agenda at the local, state/regional levels.
Responsibilities
- Director of the Frost Band Program, including the Frost Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Band of the Hour, and University Band.
- Serve as conductor of the Frost Wind Ensemble.
- Direct doctoral, master’s, and artist diploma students in wind conducting.
- Teach and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in conducting, literature, pedagogy, and related fields.
- Assist in mentoring graduate students and maintaining the excellence of the graduate programs in wind conducting, including recruiting, advising, supervising dissertations, and providing support for a small cohort of doctoral, masters and artist diploma students.
- Work closely with staff and other faculty in maintaining and building on the international reputation of the band program at the Frost School of Music.
- Maintain an active performance schedule with Frost Wind Ensemble and guest conducting ensembles nationally and internationally.
