Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Environmental Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in energy procurement, with a focus on renewable energy, energy markets, and Utilities management.
- Strong knowledge of US and global energy markets, including experience with energy transactions and environmental commodities.
- Proven experience in running RFPs and managing complex procurement processes.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed energy market analysis.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Direct experience either working with or working for Renewable Energy Developers, Utilities, Retail Energy Providers, IPPs, Energy Asset Owners, Commodities Trading, Energy Trading, Energy Exchanges, Regulators
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic off-site energy procurement plan that supports the organization’s sustainability objectives and optimizes energy costs.
- Lead renewable energy procurement initiatives, including the negotiation and management of, but not limited to: Power Purchase Agreements, Virtual Power Purchase Agreements, Renewable Retail Products, Green Tariffs, Community Solar/Storage, REC Purchase Agreements, Utility programs
- Work closely with Accounting and Business Operations to oversee Utilities management to ensure efficient and cost-effective energy use across our real estate portfolio.
- Conduct thorough energy markets analysis to inform procurement decisions and potential hedging strategies.
- Manage energy procurement processes, including organizing requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluating supplier bids.
- Develop financial models and feasibility assessments to dictate the prioritization and execution of different procurement strategies
- Monitor and report on energy market trends and regulatory changes globally to inform strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate and work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to integrate energy procurement strategies with broader sustainability initiatives.
- Track and manage project performance, budgets, and project evaluation with KPIs and other project performance and cost/savings metrics
- Oversee and manage high quality presentation materials, reports, and other content for stakeholders within GRE and across the firm in order to communicate strategies and progress effectively.
