Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Science, Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) of experience navigating or contributing to personal protective equipment or occupational health and safety standards and regulations development in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing PSD’s application engineers in all global Areas.
  • Facilitating development of science-based performance and selection and use standards related to respiratory protection equipment and occupational health and safety and tracking status and key milestones.
  • Helping advance global occupational health and safety culture and practice, both within 3M and external to 3M.
  • Identifying key opportunities to advance respirator-related health and safety policy and regulations, developing strategies to help architect and realize science-based approaches to address these opportunities.
  • Helping to coordinate PSD’s team of global application engineers in respiratory protection standards development activities.
  • Collaborating with professional associations, educational organization, public health organization and related government entities.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to align on PSD’s top-priority respirator-related standards and regulations to drive business growth.
  • Conduct and lead respirator-related research for new technologies and in support of current products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Personal Protective Equipment knowledge primarily in respiratory protection but also ideally in hearing and fall protection. National and international regulatory framework.
  • Experience in regulatory and standards development. Ideal to know about test methods for PPE and its technologies. Graduate degree in occupational health and safety or related field, certification in occupational safety or industrial hygiene.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and thought-leadership ability.
  • Established reputation as a leading expert in respiratory protection and/or occupational health and safety and strong rapport with regulatory.
