Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in global health supply chain, preferably Life Sciences, NGO or Relief industries.
  • Leadership abilities to manage internal teams, cross-functional collaboration and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and systems.
  • Understanding of health-industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with the hospital and surgical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a global supply plan to enable ready availability of highest-quality medical equipment, instruments and consumables.
  • Expand regional and in-country supplier network in ~40 lower- and middle-income countries to prioritize local availability of required supplies.
  • Manage procurement and donation processes ensuring availability and maximal cost efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain supporting relationships with governments, other NGOs and other organizations to expand organizational supply eco-system.
  • Develop regional teams with strong supply chain skillsets and capabilities; develop related training and career growth opportunities for team members.
  • Maintain proactive monitoring to ensure availability of highest quality goods.
  • Negotiate best pricing and efficiencies in the procurement, storage and delivery; maintain visibility of governmental taxes, customs and other fees and ensure cost minimization.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize carbon footprint of logistics activities as well as activities to maximize economic benefit of supply initiatives in lower- and middle-income countries.
  • Monitor central, regional and local supply levels to ensure availability.
  • Ensure compliance with government and supplier requirements and registrations.
  • Optimize supply routes and shipping modalities; coordinate warehousing and distribution and leverage third-party logistics (3PL) providers; develop new technology solutions as appropriate.
  • Manage supply and logistics budgets; develop KPIs to manage availability, quality and costs and support managerial decision-making as well as stakeholder and impact reporting.
  • Work closely with colleagues in fundraising, operations, and finance to ensure cross-functional support of organizational activities.
