Head of Controls Engineering

Requirements

• Experience architecting cohesive hardware and software solutions controlling complex physical processes
• Experience designing real-time data acquisition across many types of sensor and diagnostic systems
• Experience building and leading engineering teams that support stakeholders across many different business units
• Experience working in industries such as: power generation, chemical refineries, aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, etc

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, operation, and optimization of fusion demonstration system’s control systems
• Build and lead a team of controls engineers with expertise across: Industrial operations, robotics, diagnostics, data acquisition
• Architect a unified control system hardware and software solution that is controlling and gathering data across: valves, transducers, signal cables, sensors and diagnostics, motors, robotics, positioners, etc
• Support stakeholders across many business groups, including: fusion scientists, mechanical and process engineers, technicians, facilities, commercial and operations
• Design a system that can interpret data in real-time to facilitate operations decisions in high stakes environments such as: power plants, refineries, rocket launch systems, automotive production lines, etc

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience architecting and building systems from the ground up
• Experience working in a startup
• Seeing projects from design through commissioning and operations
