Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline required
- At least five years of experience in a clinical laboratory
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP BOC or equivalent, or relevant categorical certification
- Specialty Certification in Clinical Laboratory section preferred
- Completion of Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements for Medical Technologist IV/Specialist within 6 months in position
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily operations and organize workflow
- Ensure technical quality and timely delivery of laboratory services
- Maintain expertise in testing methodologies and participate in testing activities
- Oversee work processes and work groups within the laboratory
- Relay communications between management and staff
- Assist with technical and personnel problem resolution
- Lead team-building efforts to foster an open and creative environment
- Attend meetings to recommend workflow optimizations that enhance patient care
- Assist with the validation, optimization, and implementation of complex technologies
- Troubleshoot testing and instrumentation issues
- Share responsibility for training and competency assessments of laboratory staff
- Collaborate with the supervisor on performance management and quality issues
- Ensure the laboratory is maintained in a constant state of readiness and compliance with accreditation standards
