Requirements
- Familiarity with the facility’s administrative structure
- Ability to report accidents/incidents
- Ability to report changes in resident’s condition
- Ability to assist with errands and secretarial tasks
- Ability to maintain cleanliness in resident rooms and common areas
- Ability to follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids
- Ability to assist residents with daily activities
- Ability to identify residents using wristbands or photo cards
Responsibilities
- Report to the charge nurse all accidents/incidents observed
- Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse
- Answer phone calls, especially during meal times
- Assist with errands of residents/staff
- Assist with secretarial tasks at the nursing station
- Straighten resident closets/drawers and label belongings
- Maintain orderly/clean resident rooms and common areas
- Ensure residents unable to call for help are checked frequently
- Answer call bells promptly and report needs to CNA/Nurse
- Make rounds assisting residents with their needs
- Turn over medications found in resident’s possession to Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse
- Watch for and report any change in room temperature, ventilation, lighting
- Transport residents to and from meals/activities/outdoors
- Provide residents with Reality Orientations as instructed
- Pass linen and make unoccupied beds
- Clean feeder tables, wheelchairs, and other equipment
- Place supplies in resident rooms and common areas
- Replace trash can liners in wastebaskets
- Inform the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of changes in residents’ conditions
- Pass snacks/trays to residents and return trays to dietary
