Requirements

  • Effective communication and ability to define issues and problems while bridging the gap for the staff and end user
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and to follow written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of biophysical and spiritual aspects of patient population served and of human behavior ranging from infancy to geriatrics
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward all patients; families and co-workers
  • Compliance with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures, protocols and regulations
  • Knowledge and implementation of standardized PPE regarding the prevention and transmission of infectious disease and isolation process
  • Maintain current licensure and required certification and annual education requirements

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing and supervising the nursing care, ensuring that patient care needs are met during his/her shift
  • Providing physicians and patients with optimal service, in a cost effective manner
  • Contributing to an environment supportive of personal and professional growth of self and others
  • Overseeing the coordination of patient placement and serving as a resource to the clinical staff
  • Providing assistance with conflict resolution
  • Effectively coordinating the overall activity of the hospital in conjunction with the Directors of each department according to the hospital policies; procedures and protocols
  • Monitoring Patient Care Services activities to identify and address resolution of patient care problems
  • Responding and attempting to resolve patient complaints and alerting Administrator On-Call of potential problems
  • Acting as a liaison between patient care services personnel and other hospital personnel or department heads
  • Providing support to staff, families and significant others during code and other patient care crisis situations
