Requirements

  • Environmental training, or health and safety related training
  • 5-8 years of experience in an industrial area
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations on environment, health and safety
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate actively with plant operations and maintenance staff in all health, safety and environment topics
  • Collaborate with teams for SOP compliance, creation and benchmarking
  • Responsible for assisting in corporate programs rollout for EHS purposes
  • Responsible for creating and fostering an onsite health and safety culture
  • Responsible for root cause analysis participation and review/facilitation
  • Responsible for assisting in ISO audit and recertification
  • Responsible for monitoring occupational medical surveillance program and protocols
  • Conduct compliance audits (environmental, health and safety) on site, submit recommendations, help while results are pending and ensure follow up of corrective actions
  • Standardize, update and draft documents and procedures associated with files processed
  • Ensure follow-up of environmental incidents and work accidents
  • If necessary, train employees on the application of certain regulations and procedures related to the health, safety and environment at work
  • Conduct investigations of incidents and accidents and follow up of corrective actions
  • Ensure good communication and cooperation with corporate teams SST and Environment
  • Collaborate to update the site emergency plans
  • Ensure that the environmental monitoring of the site is executed (groundwater, process water, storm water, air emissions, etc.) and is consistent
  • Respond to customers audit questionnaires, and is attend and support during the audit as required
  • Assisting with industrial hygiene
  • Assist in managing environmental nonconformities (received by authorities)
  • Monitor the site when shutdown
  • Participate in health and safety committees
  • Ensure good communication with WCB representatives as necessary
  • Attend, if needed, the person in charge of claims files
  • Ensure the compliance of subcontractors and their pre-qualification
  • Train and inform workers of Veolia and subcontractors
  • Other duties as assigned
