Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Very Heavy work – exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects
  • Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances
  • Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.

Responsibilities

  • Administer chemotherapy treatments in accordance with national standards and hospital policy
  • Assess patients, apply clinical interventions, evaluate outcomes, and implement change to the plan of care
  • Prioritize and organize delivery of care in a consistent manner
  • Initiate interdisciplinary collaboration to promote optimal patient care and outcomes
  • Provide education for patients and families receiving chemotherapy treatments
  • Instruct patient/family/team in treatment plan and goals
  • Initiate authorization process for all new chemotherapy/supportive care treatments, as well as diagnostic tests through referral to patient navigators
  • Recognize potential emergency/life threatening situations and initiate appropriate actions as evidenced by observation and chart review
  • Participate in orienting, teaching, guiding the performance of personnel and/or students
  • Participate in departmental processes/functions to improve departmental efficiency and financial viability
  • All other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Acute Experience
  • 1+ years of Oncology Experience
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) – Accredited University or accredited training professionals
