Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 5 years inspection experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Ability and willingness to use advanced hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. – optical comparators, CMM, programmable and specialized testers) as required.
  • Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, etc.), may have to perform metric conversions, conversions to decimals, and use geometry.
  • Ability to obtain Weld and Braze inspection certification.
  • Ability to pass visual acuity exam.
  • Ability to perform electrical test methods (ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hi pot, etc)
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, geometry, metric/decimal conversion, etc.),
  • Proficient in use of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office application, Oracle, etc.
  • Proficient in blueprint and process sheet interpretation, including functional knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

Responsibilities

  • Utilize manual or automated measurement and testing equipment to assure quality of products.
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts, while using Oracle to maintain inspection records.
  • Inspect all raw materials and purchased parts to determine conformance to design requirement.
  • Use statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required.
  • Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements.
  • Develop strong understanding of GD&T and advanced measurement principles.
  • Blueprint interpretation, electrical inspection, mechanical inspection, and procedural knowledge assessment completed.
  • Advanced understanding of special processes such as brazing, soldering, welding, coating, etc. as required within the department.
  • Use manual and automated measuring / testing equipment to assure product quality.
  • Perform duties on more complex, proto-type or first-time builds.
  • Perform final inspection responsibilities as required by area.
  • Perform and document First Article inspections as required.
  • Perform complex testing (i.e. – surge test, di-electric, hipot, helium leak check, ATP, hardness testing etc.) as required.
  • Proficient understanding of the operation of all inspection equipment within the department.
  • Perform manual set up, test, and troubleshooting which includes performance testing and trim grind.
  • Develop strong understanding of GD&T and advanced measurement principles.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
  • Cross-train with employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience.
  • Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
  • Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work within deadlines.
  • Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of product deficiencies, new processes, or issues.
  • Exemplifies and coaches’ others on the GE Leadership behaviors.
  • Assist support functions in root cause analysis
  • Provide feedback to appropriate support functions.
  • Work with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-10 years Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Quality System requirements (AS9100)
  • Knowledge of electrical components, test methods (include ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hipot,etc.), assembly techniques, geometric dimensions/tolerances, and inspection in various areas.
  • Preferred assembly, solder, or electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment.
