Requirements
- Construction Management Degree, Certified Engineering Technologist Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, Construction Management or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience with 5 years’ experience directly related to Construction Management.
- Must have previous experience with construction tie-ins and interfacing of existing facilities, the ability to coordinate with operations for shutdowns or process equipment, work with multiple trades and contractor personnel.
- Must have the ability to coordinate multiple work fronts across organizations performing different scopes of work.
- Good understanding of construction trades, wastewater processes and quality management.
- Must have the capability to conduct analyses on complex data sets and review large complex technical reports.
- Must demonstrate ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Must have the ability to handle diverse tasks simultaneously and be able to work effectively with interruptions. Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information and issues.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities.
- Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to independently compose routine written communications.
- Must demonstrate ability to adapt communication style for diverse audiences from construction site / plant floor to senior management.
- Must demonstrate the ability to guide others and deliver through other people / groups without direct management control.
- Must have strong partnering abilities to develop networks and build alliances; collaborate across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and assistance during the Project Planning and Initiation Phase of individual major capital projects, including reviewing and assisting in the preparation of deliverables such as Project Delivery Plan, Interface Management Protocols and contractor communication plans.
- Assist in the high-level Constructability Reviews and critical tie-ins into the existing infrastructure.
- Provide leadership, expert advice, and assistance during the Project Development Phase of individual major capital projects, including participation in working level groups and advising in the development of Contract documents.
- Review Construction Management Plans, Detailed Constructability Documents/Deliverables, Workforce management plans, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Participate in the development of commissioning plans.
- Provide leadership, expert advice, and assistance during the Construction and Commissioning phase of individual major capital projects, including reviewing Contract Change Orders, Request for Information, Non-Conformance Reports, etc.
- Manage the communication and work outputs between all the contractors on site and with the operations and maintenance staff of the facility.
- Review all proposed shutdown scopes of work and coordinate with plant staff to ensure safe and efficient operations of the plant.
- Manage the interfaces between the various projects, stakeholders and the facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of ACONEX considered an asset.
- Experience working in the Google Suite of office tool would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrating knowledge of current local or world environmental challenges will be an advantage.
