Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, with a strong preference for experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or international companies.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting standards in multiple European countries (e.g., IFRS, local GAAP) and USGAAP is a must.
- Extensive experience in consolidation accounting, including intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translations.
- Strong understanding of international tax principles, including VAT, withholding taxes, and experience in transfer pricing.
- Experience with ERP systems mainly, NetSuite, and other accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with and coordinating with remote teams, particularly in India, is essential.
- Experience supervising and mentoring a team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for European entities, including general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for European entities in accordance with local GAAP.
- Ensure accurate and timely VAT reporting and compliance with local tax regulations.
- Manage the statutory audit process for European entities, liaising with external auditors.
- Assist with the preparation of local tax filings (e.g., corporate income tax, VAT returns).
- Monitor and analyze key financial performance indicators for the European region.
- Coordinate and participate with cross departments to ensure compliance with all relevant local laws and regulations within the European region, including data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls within the European region.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks related to accounting, tax, and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with the India-based accounting team to ensure efficient and accurate financial reporting for European operations.
- Provide guidance and support to local finance teams within the European region.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local tax advisors, legal counsel, and other external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, cross departmental leaders and executives.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed.
- Drive quality into the organization through constant inspection, verification, and reconciliation.
- Effectively lead change management across teams through documented governance.
- Be a trusted advisor across the business.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
- Experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or international companies.
- Experience working with and coordinating with remote teams, particularly in India, is a plus.
