Requirements

  • University degree majoring in accounting/business.
  • Knowledge of investment accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to focus on the details.
  • Strong interpersonal and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the accounting infrastructure, processes, and investment reporting.
  • Synthesize, monitor, analyze and summarize investment reports.
  • Maintain and monitor the investment portfolio and cash flows.
  • Actively participate in projects, acting in an advisory role from an investment reporting and operations perspective.
  • Continually investigate and recommend enhancements to support efficiencies in reporting processes.
  • Run various reports and analyze investment statements to record journal entries.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations to ensure information is complete and all accounts balance.
  • Prepare for monthly and quarterly investment reporting.
  • Provide accurate and pertinent information needed for statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.
  • Interact with external business partners to ensure all investment information is complete and accurate.
  • Compile information requiring combinations of data from multiple sources.
  • Perform ad hoc value-added analysis.
  • Create new information templates, tracking tools, databases, and retrieval processes.
  • Responsible for investment portfolio maintenance and uploading trades to Investment Systems.
  • Daily cash flow management, including cash flow projections, cash transfers and wires.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor control mechanisms and processes.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of new processes relating to investment systems/databases.
  • Ensure meaningful controls are in operation, protecting the integrity of the investment information being reported.
  • Resolve conflicting data between different sources to ensure accurate information is reported in the financial statements.
  • Responsible for implementing, assessing, and adhering to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting/finance designation such as CPA or CFA, or working towards it is preferred.
  • SAP experience is an asset.
