Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • ABA-approved Paralegal certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in intellectual property (PATENTS) law, with experience in managing a corporate IP portfolio.
  • Familiarity with IP management and docketing software and case management tools.
  • High level of attention to detail, strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and international IP laws, procedures, processes, and standards; including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the company’s global patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios, ensuring all filings, renewals, and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with external counsel to ensure timely filings, document signings, and adherence to IP laws in different jurisdictions.
  • Manage the IP docketing system, tracking the status of all active and pending IP applications, assignments, and renewals.
  • Manage IP Annuities, invoices, and payments.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of patent and trademark applications (domestic and international) and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
  • Monitor trademark and patent infringements and coordinate with legal teams on cease-and-desist actions.
  • Assist with IP searches, including patent and trademark availability searches.
  • Draft and prepare internal reports, summaries, and updates on IP matters for internal stakeholders.
  • Support attorneys in preparing materials related to intellectual property disputes, including discovery and document management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the IP needs of internal business units, including R&D, marketing, and product teams.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of IP strategies to align with business objectives.
  • Coordinate completion and signing of required documents and forms and ensure timely response for correspondence with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage IP Attorneys/Agents calendars and meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with global IP filing systems and working with international IP offices.
  • Experience working in-house for a corporation or in a legal department is a plus.
