Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma
- 2-year or 4-year degree from college or technical school in a chemical or life-science related field; or equivalent job experience in an industrial laboratory environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in team environment
- Able to meet established deadlines
- Comfortable with safely working with hazardous materials
- Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Possess strong computer skills
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data
- Preparation and evaluation of coating formulations including, primer, topcoat and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment
- Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory; collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur
- Document findings and communicating results
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location
- Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments at work location
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Interpret and communicate test results using computer-based systems
- Document experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel
- Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis
- Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints
