Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
Responsibilities
- Ownership of GT compressor mechanical airfoil designs for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and Legacy Alstom designs
- Execution of the design, analysis, and evaluation of business-critical projects using sound engineering principles, and adhering to business standards and program requirements
- Collaboration with cross functional / cross-organization teams including the Aero engineering, Thermal sciences, Materials engineering, Test engineering, Systems engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Product Definition teams
- Execution of required NPI design reviews, from conceptual phase through detailed design, and into manufacturing, production, and validation in addition to helping assess fielded hardware & production deviations
- CAD model creation for optimization and analysis
- Finite element analysis (FEA) or component & sub-system integrity, modal studies, and lifing
- Product definition, drawing creation and review
- Validation of new designs through testing support and data post-processing.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers and how the team’s deliverables integrate with other cross-functional teams
- Resolution of manufacturing and fleet issues through physics-based problem solving and mentorship with senior and chief engineers
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of airfoils experience
- Advocacy of lean principles and innovative thought process
- Ability to use CAD tools for model creation (ie. UG NX)
- Ability to use finite element computer codes (ie ANSYS)
- Experience with Aeromechanics validation, strain gage placement and post-processing
- Familiarity with drafting standards or practices and geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Gas turbine design, aerospace design, manufacturing experience and/or field experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Matlab or Python familiarity
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Ability to assess and resolve problems across different teams
