Linux Systems Administrator III

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience plus three (3) to five (5) years experience with Linux operating systems and system management techniques in a complex technical environment.
Solid working knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) server administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, and client support.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system family, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, backup, recovery and client support.
Proven diagnostic and problem solving skills are essential to the successful performance of this role.
Excellent understanding of computer hardware, TCP/IP networking, network and computer security issues, and backup/disaster recovery techniques.
Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic, complex, team-based environment.
Tact and diplomacy with a flexible and positive approach are required to perform these job functions.
Effective written and verbal communication.
Ability to juggle multiple priority tasks. Initiative to provide high quality service to the Engineering/Bowers CIS/Tech Campus community is required.
Strong service orientation.

Participate and develop ITSG and CIT hosted infrastructure environments.
Maintain and enhance existing units’ infrastructure in multiple buildings and units.
Implement infrastructure solutions in accordance to University Policy 5.10, Information Security.
Implement procedures for system administration to ensure stability and reliability of Engineering/Bowers CIS/Tech Campus system infrastructure.
