Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics/transportation or related emphasis is preferred
- 5+ years of transportation experience required
- 3+ years of managing a staff of salary and hourly employee required
- Knowledge of FMSCA and Department of Transportation rules and regulations
- Knowledge of Hours of Service and handling of hazardous materials required
- Must possess positive employee relation skills
- Strong leadership, management & strategic thinking required
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft office (Word and Excel)
Responsibilities
- Lead, support and encourage Ace Values: Winning, Excellence, Love, Integrity, Gratitude, Humility and Teamwork
- Responsible for planning, implementing and controlling products, goods and services to meet the needs of Ace retailers
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer service issues
- Responsible for the maintenance of reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and training & safety records
- Direct outbound traffic operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management
- Responsible for succession planning/development of staff
- Maintain a positive business relationship by supporting Retail Operations, including Project Management and District Managers as it relates to retailer relations & store needs. Also, be present at store visits and retailers meeting as needed
- Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding all financial goals for the department. Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers (to include annual budget planning)
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state and Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations and driver safety
- Maintain positive driver and staff employee relations
- Manage and oversee private fleet of tractors and trailers executing deliveries out of the Retail Support Center and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed
- Responsible for the safety of the department and security of people and resources, accident investigators and loss prevention
- Responsible for executing Logistics Revolution & Supplemental Order Stream by overseeing optimal route structure and implementation, routing systems, demand planning, and overall logistics support
- Serve as the focal point for the administration and oversight of the logistics process as well as tactical interactions with supplies. This will include benchmarking, negotiating and managing third party vendor contracts and service levels
- Serve as traffic liaison with other departments within the RSC. Networking with other departments to understand flow & demand of warehouse, supporting HR with recruiting, retention and payroll
